Overdrive dullard

I downloaded a book without having my Adobe Digital Editions open. It downloaded...or so I thought. It's listed on my Bookself so it's checked out.

Only problem is that I can't find it on my computer. I now have ADE open and the book isn't listed.

To compound the problem, I made a mistake and selected the Kindle version of the book--I need the epub copy. So I want to find the book, return it so I can borrow it in epub.

Any suggestions? I'm new to Overdrive but I did successfully DL my first two books last month and this time I done goof.

I downloaded other epub books and I got a message that I needed to download software to read epub. For whatever reason my ADE wasn't being recognized. I removed it and reinstalled it. It's working now. Thanks.

Is this a known glitch--ADE not being recognized? I download software with an admin account but usually use my laptop with a limited user account (for security reasons). I wonder if that makes a difference.

I still have a problem with the kindle book though. I downloaded it again and it directed me to my Amazon account and I went through the steps out of curiosity. Since I don't have a Kindle I have the library book through the Kindle Cloud Reader. Is there a way to return the book early? I know it can be done on ADE. I would like to return it asap so I can get myself on the waiting list for the epub version (duh).

I'm also going to triple check to make sure I only borrow epub books from now on!

@TDOnline; the other "gotcha" with ADE and ePubs is that IF you have ADE set as the default program to handle ePubs AND you click on an ePub in Explorer, or FileManager or whatever, the ePub WILL open in ADE; however, it does not get added to the ADE library!

Well, I did recently start using Calibre. I also updated Firefox. I wonder if these two affected the download. Like I posted earlier, Overdrive didn't recognize my ADE and suggested I install the program. Oof.

That's a tough one - I have to consciously direct myself "Be sure to click the Epub choice!"

When using ADE it is always a good Idea to eject your device before disconnecting it from your computer, this will help prevent your files from becoming corrupted.

My apologies for highjacking this threat but i asked this yesterday and haven't heard from anyone yet and thought someone here might be able to help me. I am more interested if this is an overdrive thing or a library thing.

Anyone else having issues with this app in the past 24 hours? Have been using succesfully for a couple of months but yesterday/today when I try to download my available books it is saying "expired ACSM file. Please refresh the webpage you downloaded this title from and try again (error code 1069)"

According to the library they think I have the books checked out.

Want to know if it is an issue they are fixing or something I am doing.

The ACSM file is a download link to the book. The ACSM file is only valid for a limited period of time. Sounds like you have waited too long before downloading the book.

Just re-download it from Overdrive. When you download the ascm file it is a good idea to open it in ADE right away.

I was downloading the books right away (well within 24 hours) of my library notification (they give you 3 days) I actually uninstalled the app to see if that was the issue and now I can't even "get back" the book i was reading already from the library. I have also tried loading a book that was available right away and it gave me the same message.

Have also tried "re"downloading the books.

Sorry I don't know what ADE means?

Maybe it is an issue with my libraries website?
