Naive newbie trying to export to Stanza on ipod
Hi - just installed Calibre, trying to restore books to Stanza on an ipod touch after latest Stanza update wiped them out.
I've tried following the "connect to itunes" instructions but "connect to itunes' is grayed out under my connect/share menu. I tried opening the "shared" tab in Stanza on the ipod, but it says "network unreachable" even when plugged into USB. I've tried "start content server" but I don't see any indication that anything happens when I do that. Sorry, obviously I'm missing some basic concepts here but if anyone can poitn me in the right direction I'd be most grateful. |

Try closing and opening Stanza again. With the iPod Touch connected to wi-fi, the Calibre content server should show up in the Shared tab under Computers Sharing Books usually labeled as Books in calibre (on COMPUTER-NAME).

Note also that if your iPod is not running iOS 5 then Stanza will no longer run without crashing after the latest Stanza update.

? So the transfer should be initiated from Stanza on the ipod rather than from Calibre on the PC? I guess I had that backwards.
But I may just give up on Stanza -- the 3.1 version recently lost its ability to access catalogs, then the 3.2 update killed my ability to even read books, so I restored the old 3.1 version to the ipod and saved the books library to PC & into Calibre from backup. But the 3.1 Stanza doesn't seem to be able to connect to a network, so maybe it's just time to say goodbye & start over with a different e-reader on the ipod. |

Well, if you want ease of copying ebooks, you could always use iBooks. You just add your epub files to iTunes and they'll copy over to iBooks on sync.
No idea why your 3.1 lost network access. Mine works fine. Granted, sometimes, the Bonjour service isn't working so the Calibre library doesn't automatically show up on Stanza. However, I can always access the catalog using a link manually added to Book Sources (e.g. http://192.168.1.2:8080/stanza). |
