I'm looking for a PDF app that can...

1. put on and work well on the Vox
2. Has highlighting and and notetaking function
3. preferably free but at a low coast would work
4. fit to screen option would be nice but can live without

Any suggestions?

ezPDF Reader Pro and the newly released FoxIT Mobile PDF come to mind. FoxIT is 1.49, while ezPDF is a bit more expensive. Both work better than Adobe.

I guess I'll go with FoxIt reader because that is what I use on my computer. I just got the Vox a couple of days ago and it's my first Android device. So if I hit install at the Appbrain site through the Vox browser that would work? I'm also in Canada so does Appbrain works here unlike the Amazon appstore?

Doesn't appbrain just redirect to Market?

Mantano is also an option. It has a free as well as a paid option and I've been using it for at least the last 2 weeks (paid), so I know it meets criteria 1, 3 and 4 and I think it meets criteria 2. The difference between free and paid is ads, which don't appear in the .pdf, and the cost is just 7.50 or so if you don't like ads.

Yes, Mantano does highlighting and notes, and even keeps an index of notes. I find the interface much more adapted to 7" than the other two. There are quite different fit to screen options, like practically scrambling the PDF and adapting it right to the screen (sometimes mixed results, but readable).
If you want to annotate papers, it's definitely worth a try.
As well, it doubles as a nice reader app - it works well with the Calibre server, but unfortunately not Overdrive. If it did, I'd completely ditch Aldiko and use Mantano only.

Do you use the free or paid version, and do you have a download link? Sounds interesting, although I wonder if having all these reader apps is going to make my Vox explode, LOL! (I have Kobo, Kindle, Aldiko, Overdrive, and Sony.) I can read pdf's with Aldiko, but I would like to be able to increase the size of the font because it's way too small in at least one pdf book I'm reading.

SlideMe and AppsLib have it. I have the ad version. It renders PDF much faster than Aldiko. I switched over to a Calibre server where I manage all the different books from the different stores and use only Aldiko for reading and Mantano for PDF. Since I only have one library card I access it's Overdrive website directly through Aldiko as a catalogue (at least one application less).

I've quit using Aldiko, using Mantano instead. Mantano does pdf better, and is at least as good and probably better for ePub. I use the paid version, but the only difference between paid and free is that free comes with Google ads, but I think only in certain screens, definitely not while reading. You can get free and paid Mantano from Slideme: Free Paid

Mantano has direct access to both Calibre and Gutenberg in its "My Bookstore" tab, and any other sources that have an opds interface.

Thank you! Got the free version of Mantano and it's so much better for my pdf books.

My what was I saying, you're right - it does Calibre (through http://ip-address : port/opds), but not Overdrive (or is there a opds page for overdrive?). :-/ AND that's why I actually like it - because I have the PDFs organized in the Calibre server.

Mantano works pretty well but it's a bit slow for some of my pdf's. Also, I'm unable to use the highlighting feature properly with these pdf's too. Aldiko and a bunch of other free pdf apps weren't even able to open them so at least that's a huge improvement. I think the problem is with the pdf's and not the software even though they open without any problem on my computer with foxit reader. Maybe if I convert them into another file type and then convert them back to pdf's again will work.

What software (for on my computer) would be the best for this? Is there other and or better options for fixing potentially corrupted pdf's?

I have a pdf e-book I purchased which is downright ornery, and I remember discussing this with someone else on a different message board. She had trouble with it in her sony reader, and so did I. The issue was with the chart pages. The reader would freeze for several minutes on each page that had these charts. However, once it had successfully opened the page one time, it was able to do so again without hesitation. Aldiko was also choked by this pdf on the Vox, but still worked eventually. Mantano froze so badly and then when I tried to open the same pdf in Aldiko, it froze as well and I had to reboot the Vox. The only way this pdf can be gracefully read thus far is on the Sony Reader Library software on my laptop. I did complete the book on my Sony PRS by being patient and walking away for several minutes each time it had to encounter one of these difficult pages. I don't know if Mantano will ever manage it or not. Mantano would choke, choke, choke, then the page with the illustration quickly flashed by and it went on to the next page, but I was never able to view the illustrated page. It's strange how this can happen with a pdf, and this is the only one I've had difficulty with. All they are are drawn charts, not even colorized illustrations. The publisher even e-mailed me a different pdf, but I still had the same results.
