Can't transfer books to Sony Reader

Hello all. I just purchased a new sony reader, the PRS-T1 and have a weird problem or maybe I'm not doing it right. I was able to connect the Reader with the Sony store and register/authorize it under my account and also with Adobe. Now when I have it hooked up to my PC (Windows 7) th ereader does not show up in my library so I can't transfer any of my books. I had a PRS-300 which I deauthorized before hooking up the new reader. The reader does show that it is hooked up and asks if I want to just charge or transfer books. I choose transfer and nothing happens. So what am I doing wrong? ANy help would be appreciated.

Was the first thing you did to charge the battery to full and update to the latest firmware from the Sony website?

If not, do that first. If so, download and use Calibre to manage and transfer your ebooks http://calibre-ebook.com/

Did you switch the Reader to data transfer mode?

Did you install the new Reader for PC / Mac software or are you still using the old Reader Library software?

What Bookworm_Girl is alluding to is that the T1 does not work with the old Reader Library. You need the new Reader for PC software, which you can download at:

http://ebookstore.sony.com/download/

If you download it, it should prompt you to import your books/collections/annotations from the old software, the first time you run it. That feature used to be buggy and not import annotations - but it has supposedly been fixed since. Yet, it will 'link' your Reader for PC to the old folders of the Reader Library folders - and will NOT create new copies of your books in the folders used by Reader for PC. Which might be a problem if, later on, you decide to uninstall your old software.

Damn, that was convoluted. It's late, I apologize. Hope it makes sense.
