The sleep is bad.

I always open the vox in the morning for if I need to use it in the day.
But these day, I seem to lose 90% of the battery while in sleep.
I didn't used it at all yesterday and it was full charge, after 12 hours of sleep it was at 10%. Isn't that a little to much for sleep?
Wifi off, sync off.

Did you notice that the display turns on sometimes during sleep? Sometimes it also stays on for a few hours. Woke me up the other night. :-)

Well, my vox is closed in it's case, so I don't see. I know that it sometime open for 10 sec or so and close but that's all.

I'm pretty sure It had a better battery life in sleep when I first bought it.

Yep first thought my replaced device was all ok, but I got all the same sleep wake up problems everybody talks about. Quickly fix this, starting to regret my I bought this, never had so much problems with a new device, you really get what you pay for I guess

I am beginning to wonder exactly how many threads will be enough for folks to report that they are having problems with sleep and its red headed stepchild, battery, problems. It is a known issue. It is, most would say, THE BIGGEST known issue. If you have purchased a Vox and waiting for a fix for the various iterations of sleep/battery problems is not something you want to do, return the Vox. You can always buy it again later when this is resolved.

I am willing to wait, but then I am not (perhaps yet) having any problems that I can't get around.

PS: I am not intending to be rude or unsympathetic. This is a huge issue for many people. My only point was that if it is getting to feel entirely intolerable or if it haunts you or makes you angry, edgy, or upset, you really should return it. No one should have to feel lousy because of a piece of technology's flaws, bugs, or limitations.

Or....do like I do, and just turn the thing off! I am not too concerned about it, but I do 'test' it a lot just to see if there's a pattern and an easy work around for mine...so far, nothing seems to work consistently to get around the issue, so for the sake of the battery, I just turn it off all the time...

I am wondering how many are NOT having the battery/ wake/ charge issue and not therefore not speaking up.
I for one have none of those issues. I don't turn off the wifi when it sleeps but I do not leave a book open either. I have no other apps that I mess with and I have removed rdio and the Globe app. I noticed the Globe app seemed to do something in the background.
Many times I will recharge in sleep mode and it will pop on for a sec then off again but charges fine.
I have had it for a month now I hope I have not spoke too soon.

Maybe a sticky would be a good idea; it's running up to christmas, more people are getting Voxs, so more people will be getting issues. It's excusable to miss a thread on page 2, but missing a sticky would be a lot harder. Something like that would minimise threads like these while letting us catalogue known issues and supposed solutions.

Had some feedback from Kobo, they are about to release an update to fix the sleep issues.

Who at Kobo said that, gloups5? We know it is coming, but I have not heard anything about this coming quickly.

I've actually got something new that's happening to me. Where it once would just do the never wake from sleep.. It'll wake on it's own and freeze on, so I have to do the ten-second press to shut it off and turn it on again.
It did this to me when at work, at full battery. When I got on break to use it, it was in this state and used up all of my battery. (was showing the frozen full battery originally) What confused me is that it turned on, but turned right off because of drained battery so it was still 'on' seeming with drained battery.
It did this to me again today, but I caught it so it didn't affect the battery too much. I'd just rather it not do so.. =/

Actually.. It does this every time I put it to sleep.

My Vox started out mostly stable. It would occasionally lock while coming out of sleep and it would turn itself on (only noticed if it was plugged in) and back off. But now I cannot wake it from sleep at all, it just locks right up. This happened after the update, but not right away after the update. I've since using privacy option reset the device best I could. Same problem.

I was previously considering returning the device (other things didn't impress me) but decided to keep it as it seemed to have decent potential. Now kind of regretting.

Thanks gloups5. I don't know what danny knows (or who he is, what role he has at kobo), of course, but I know that the development team is working hard to figure the battery/sleep issues out and they are not there yet. At least that is what the beta group has been told.
