I bought my PRS-350 on sale earlier this year after asking for feedback from MobileRead users. I've never read a review on the PRS-350 from a tech site prior to purchasing which is quite unusual for me. For some reason I started looking up PRS-350 reviews today and boy, am I glad I hadn't read them beforehand. Most of the review sites gave the PRS-350 a rating of 3.5 or so. Pretty much all of the reviews were from the perspective of a "techie" and not that of a "reader". Most were dinging it based on lack of 3G/Wi-Fi and web browser while ignoring features such as collections (which, as someone with a large library, is quite invaluable). Very few made mention that despite the fact that you don't get instant access to the Sony ebook store (ala-Kindle), the PRS-350 supports other ebook stores carrying ebooks in Adobe ePub or PDF.

Same as a lot of PRS-350 owners on MobileRead, I'm very, very happy with it. Happy enough to have bought extras for backup. Really glad I went straight to MobileRead for opinions instead of reading "expert" reviews.

The reviews so often tally up "features" and not whether the features enhance the reading experience. I picked up a Sony 505 3 years ago. Ever since then I have been glad I stumbled into purchasing a Sony and not a Kindle simply based on the ease of collection creation/use and how integrated Sony devices are with calibre.

Now I read using a 950 and the kids use a 300 and a 505. I have calibre setup to automatically create collections on each device and use the same single metadata plugboard to ensure everything is in perfect order. Managing the devices couldn't be simpler.
