Amazon and Audible "merge"
I accidentally merged Amazon and my audible account when I got an audiobook for the Kindle at amazon.com. Suddenly, my archive is inundated with over 400 audible book titles, most of which I have already listened to. And there is no way to delete them from the Kindle archives. I sure don't want to go thru 400 plus titles to find a book I want to "read", and the merge reset all my audible preferences from itunes download for my ipod to the format used for Kindle. I asked Audible to disconnect my accounts, but it takes a while to accomplish that. And no one knows for sure what gets permanently deleted at Audible if you reset the Kindle to factory defaults, since all but one of the ebooks were not purchased at Amazon. Confusing, to be polite.
So if you don't really want to use the Kindle for your audiobooks, DON'T have amazon.com be your new signon for any existing Audible account. You can download the audible books individually from audible.com. Much, much less confusing, and easier to deal with. |

We have 3 different Audible accounts, but only a single Amazon account we use for Kindles. What I'd really like to do is merge two of those Audible accounts into one and then link to Amazon. But that's not possible without losing access to existing books. (I _so_ hate DRM.)

Personally I wish there was a way to un-merge them but according to Audible's CS that is something they are working on for the future. I do not like having my audible's accessible in the archive because I do not want to download any of my audible's on my kindle.

I rather like having my Audible books in my archives. I'll listen to one every now and then on my Kindle. It's convenient to do so at times.

I wouldn't mind so much if you could sort the archives by type, like books, audiobooks etc and have a secondary sort like what is currently available. But when you have hundreds of audiobook titles in archive, with no way to either sort them by type, or delete the title from archive, it is very difficult to find ANYTHING. I would like the option of removing certain things from archives as well.
And yes, the audiobooks are on the hard drive. The only reason for keeping them on the audible site, for me at least, is that it will keep me from buying the same book twice, which is easy to do when a lot of the titles are the same. I like the audible archive where it was. I can always download an individual book to my kindle if I want one. |
