What is the battery life like after rooting?

I'm guessing the battery life is worse after rooting with all the additional functionalities you can add to it.

Is there a significant difference?

as anything else yes it depends with what you do with it.

if you just use cool reader instead of sony reader app battery will be identical

if you install an app that will check your email once an hour on wifi your battery will be worse

I primarily use coolreader but I find that the battery drains quite quickly. About 5 percent for 2 hours reading book (text only, wifi off). I think because there are some apps and services running in background after rooting.

That's not true, AFAIK rooting does not install any new services. I guess your battery wasn't fully charged when rooting:

Ok. I deleted the batterystats.bin file and I am charging the T1 now. Hope that there will be a difference.
Thank you, uboot.

be sure to charge it with dedicated wall charger, not via laptop!

Why is that? Don't tell me the USB charger doesn't charge the device fully...

I followed the steps but charged it in my computer for the night. Now I switched it back on and it says low battery.
Maybe my computer didn't charge it.
Do you think it's okay that I turned it on? Have I damaged anything?

I am thinking of charging it with the wall charger overnight and only then switch it back on. Do you think it will solve the problem?
Or should I undo the root, fully charge it and then root again and delete the battery file?

if you switched the computer off, it won't charge of course

if you switched the T1 off, it still charges - as indicated by the red led on the power button.

in your place, I would do battery recalibration:

plug it to wall charger, delete batterystats, switch off, wait 8h

from then, it might take 2..3 charge cycles for the battery to get calibrated

I already deleted the battery file, I left it charging because of that. But it didn't charge after all and I switched it back on still uncharged. That's my problem.
