Question After-sales question.

An unusual question perhaps, but bear with me.

I've lost two readers to date due to broken screens out of warranty. Obviously I'm mildly concerned about such things happening with a third.

Now, I was with my brother the other day when he picked up a new kindle and pcworld were offering the usual extra warranty extension. For a change it seemed a reasonable offer (£20 for 3yrs no questions asked on fixes).

I've pretty much decided on the T1, which seems to be going for similar money (~£130) just about everywhere (ignoring play's price bouncing shenanigans). So, are people aware of whether the stores selling the t1 would be offering similar terms, and if so what?

Comet are offering three years for £40. http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Digital-Boo...al-Book/777447

But they are selling the black version which PC World aren't. Myself, I don't want a red or white one.

Personally, I might see what cover my home insurance offers. I have co-op insurance and it covers all my gadgets for much less than the store policies do.

Check out SquareTrade for your warranty. I was able to get 3 year protection including accidental damage for $39 USD. Google for promotional codes in case you can get a discount, which is what I did. I haven't had to cash in on the policy yet, but I've heard very good things about SquareTrade for warranties. BestBuy, where I bought my first reader, wanted $70 for a 2 year policy (and not sure now if it included accidental damage or not). Sony's pricing was the same as BestBuy, so I saved quite a bit with SquareTrade.
