Firmware update without Reader for PC ?

Does anyone know of a way to download the firmware and apply it without having to use the Sony Reader for PC software.

As I'd like to get the next release installed without using the Sony Reader.

Or do we wait for porkupan to publish another restore set based on the new firmware when it's released?

Useful link. However, there are only versions for MSWindows and MacOS, which I both don't have. (I have Linux but only installed on the toy computers; for the real ones I have a real Unix). So a porkupan-style restore disk will be useful.

By the way, my T1 came with a different firmware version: 1.0.00.09270, which is a bit newer apparently than the 1.0.00.0910 that porkupan has.

Your firmware may be newer, but if the T-1 follows the same path as previous Sony readers your firmware isn't necessarily newer it is just a different country. In the past each country had there own revision number.
