PRS-T1 What happened to the Harry Potter edition?
I know there were some rumors or announcements that release of the Harry Potter ebooks was being delayed. Did anyone order a Harry Potter version of the T1 and what happened to your order? I was hoping to get the HP edition now that I'm almost completely decided on buying a T1 (my only complaints being that it has a shiny case and that there aren't side page turn buttons), but I don't know if they just sold out and will be available again soon, are sold out completely, are delayed indefinitely, etc. Thank you!

Rare Pottermore E-reader!
The T1 Pottermore units are being recycled through Best Buy Canada!
I bought a new unit and there is official Sony Canada tape across the top flap. If you look closely, the original clear plastic security sticker had been cut so they could open the box, and then they put Sony tape over top of that to re-seal it. I thought maybe Sony had opened up these boxes and decided to update some firmware before release...but that's not the case. The unit inside looks new but a big clue is on the front of the box: There is a black sticker in the top right corner - says Borrow Free Public Library eBooks over wi-fi etc... You can just barely see that a circle sticker exists underneath this one. I thought it might be a security sticker placed under the black sticker, but when I peeled it back carefully, it reveals that it was indeed a Pottermore unit and that the Harry Potter e-book can be found inside! They left the thank you note on imitation gold-leaf paper hand-signed by JK Rowling in the box - so I guess I have a free souvenir! No sign of the Harry Potter ebook installed however. I wonder if my T1 gives me magical powers? |

Do you have a picture of the thank you letter from JK Rowling Dterm? I'd love to see a copy of it. The first Potter book was never to be installed on the unit. It was supposed to come with a coupon code for a free download.
I got my reader from the Sony store & it too had the Sony tape over the seal & the black wi-fi sticker over the Pottermore sticker. ![]() ![]() |

Interesting! I bought mine from Target in the US. I just looked at my box. I too have the Library Wi-fi sticker and the Pottermore one underneath! I never even noticed. Mine didn't have the Sony tape though. Just the regular clear seal. And, no thank you note inside mine. Just the usual stuff.

That's ok Bookworm Girl. Our consolation is that even though we didn't get the thank you note we both know it's not hand signed by Ms Rowling. It's a computer facsimile.

Maybe the publisher realized that "compatible with any device," which was advertised, means "no DRM," which they don't want to allow.
Also, the Pottermore site is still not open to the public; the beta testing may have shown that a lot of the users were adult fans, not kids who will tolerate glitchy coding and poor service. |

The books won't be coming out until sometime next year. Pottermore announced no store until the first half of 2012. I'm thinking June or July or later.
