Costco sells PRS-500 for $250

I was at Costco here in Washington State this afternoon. They have 500 displayed and sell them for $250 plus free download credit ( I think it was $100 worth.. could be $50. Can't remember exactly)

Anyway, if you don't care about new 505, it's a good deal.

Yes, I was kinda surprised to see it there (Costco in Atlanta). Costco typically has a rule about carrying merchandise - if it doesn't sell well, it's gone in a hurry. Good exposure to the "average Joe" for as long as they have it, it was next to the digital cameras.

Saw the reader at Costco myself yesterday. Almost picked one up.

Is it worth getting this one from Costco? Any suggestions/opinions are appreciated.

Costco has a very liberal return policy which could work in your favor, though they have tightened it up recently with respect to big ticket electronic devices. Not sure how these new policies affect at $250 PRS-500.

$50 is an okay savings over the newer PRS-500, but not great in my opinion. If you can deal with the lesser contrast and the fact that it is only compatible with 32-bit Windows OS (no standard support for Mac, Linux, 64-bit Windows).

If you're okay with those two things, go for it. Personally, I'm waiting for them to drop significantly (to at least $150) so I can pick up a few as presents for my nieces.

I got mine at Costco, it comes with $50 dollars credit, and you can download the 100 classic eBooks from the connect store (I haven't gotten around to doing it yet, so I'm not sure).

I really thought it was a great deal, but it appears that Costco isn't selling them anymore (or at least not the ones in the Portland area of OR, including the Clackamas, Wilsonville, and Tigard ones (I got mine in Wilsonville a month ago, and I haven't seen them since then)).
