Android market Free Books
I have converted my Vox so that I can use the Android Market. However; I get the impression that the free books are only readable on-line (not downloadable). Thats no good on a flight etc.
Can anyone confirm this restriction? |

If you are talking about google books you can use the google ebooks app and you should be able to read them offline
http://books.google.co.uk/help/ebooks/android.html if they are not google books, where are you getting the books from? |

Good afternoon Paul,
As I indicated; I,m using the Vox and the now onboard Android Market Place Application, to request books or othere apps. I presume that all the books are Google ones as they come from the Android Market Place. |

I'm not familiar with Google's books and their ebook app, but maybe you don't really need it:
Some free books reside in the cloud, like Amazon's, for example. But there are many other sources that allow you to download the book file and read it locally. Check out Gutenberg, plus most online booksellers (other than Amazon) make public-domain books available for free. There's also an online forum here on MobileRead with many other sources. |

http://books.google.co.uk/help/ebooks/android.html Thanks Paul, I,ve got the Google Books app now - and can read their books off-line. I do observe that downloading a book from the Marketplace takes about 10 times longer than downloading the same book from the Kobo Store - both using the Vox only (not via PC) |
