Being an IBM/windows fan for decades I am excited that I now have 3 new products
1. iPad2 2. KindleDX 3. Calibre Information overload? not strong enough statement My Kindle challenge is the lack of collection definition ability. I really need MORE than the collection name, I need sub category ability. My mainframe storage management experience led to an easy windows folder naming structure but as the volume of "documents" has grown exponentially the need for a better management tool has surfaced. Had hoped Calibre might be the tool. Seems like a HUGH learning curve. for example, How do I UPSTOP a job that I had stopped. |

What type of curve does this Hugh person imply

I suspect you will find things easier than you think. Calibre is designed that the default settings fits most users usage, but that if you have special requirements then you can. However if you have questions on Calibre usage then this forum will normally get you answers in a timely fashion. I am not quite sure what you want from Collection handling on the Kindle? To some extent you are limited by the UI of the Kindle itself. Two Calibre related things you might want to look at are: - The Kindle Collections plugin (available via the Plugins section of the forum) - Metadata plugboards - a Calibre feature used to manipulate the title during transfer of a book to the Kindle to meet special user requirements around naming. However this falls under the 'more advanced' type of usage so you may not want to rush into it. |

Mr DASD
![]() There is no Pause a Job. Stop means Abort. Queue the job again is the only way. Note: Preferences (and your CPU) dictate how many jobs run at the same time. |

UPSTOP meant Unstop - fat finger
I meant to ask, how do I restart a stopped job. The ability to download news sources via Calibre has me VERY EXCITED. Since the contents will be placed on my Kindle it will be much easier to read than traditional RSS on my web browser.
My learning curve with the Caliber/Kindle DX is progressing. 1. Sure which the DX size was available in the FIRE mode. 2. The "mouse" is no where as good as touch. 3. I have now developed a great love for the "user experience" emphasis exploited by Steve Jobs. 4. I do LOVE the readability of the DX both quality and size. 5. I THINK Caliber will be a better tool/process than I tunes. Only time will tell. 6. I LOVE the ease of moving a pdf directly to my kindle folder via USB connection. 7. Would love to hear from caliber fans about how they use Caliber and on what devices... |

Storageman - you can't do sub-folders inside a collection on the Kindle. I don't know whether the Kindle Collections plugin for calibre works on a DX, but it's a godsend for managing collections.
