Lightbulb Novel use for Kindle
I just came back to the UK from a few days in Greece. I was able to find a wireless hotspot to do an online check in for the return trip (using a laptop) but could not find any way of printing the boarding pass. After some thought I transferred the PDF from the laptop onto the Kindle - this worked brilliantly, the scanner at the baggage drop off read the 2D barcode with no problem at all.

Much cheaper than using a 3G phone!

How clever! I did take all my check-in info as backup on my ereader, but didn't realise it could read it directly.

My husband did the same thing with his boarding pass for his last flight, worked great.

I pitched an idea when the Kindle SDK beta started a while back, but I didn't get selected.
I wanted to to create an app where you could type in all those shoppers reward card numbers we carry around for supermarkets and the like and have the Kindle generate the barcode that could be scanned at POS.

I realize I could just create a document with all my barcodes and use the search feature to get to the right one, which I still might do one of these days, but I thought an app would be cooler.

Clever! That technique would probably work with a number of other bar code forms, but only if the vendor / store / redeemer has the type of bar code scanner that doesn't require passing a thin piece of paper through a slot.
