What ?
Anyone heard of someone buying ebooks, apparently with some sort of " DRM ", (their words not mine) which on downloading to reader, tells you said purchased and paid for books will expire in 24 hours, and do disappear at said time ?
And this particular reader is a Sony - I presume T1.

They might be getting mixed up with the download link. When you buy from Horror Mall it tells you the download link will expire in 24 hours, other ebook sellers might be the same. It's a bit of a swizz, because it means you have to make your own online backup, but it doesn't mean the ebook stops working once you have it.

The same thing often applies when you buy software: you get a download link that's valid only for a short period of time.

That is probably right. I brought an ebook from an author site a few days ago and the email I received said the download link would expire in 24 hours.
