Kindle Customer Service
I typically don't boast companies for their customer service but due to the excellent care I got tonight, I thought I would share.
I bought my DXG about two years ago, which is well out of the warranty period of one year. However, when I called this evening with a concern regarding loss of sound from the AUX Input I was pleasantly surprise by the response I got. I was anticipating a replacement fee for my device at the very most, although I was prepared to be told that I would have to cover the full cost should I choose to replace it. So when I was told that I would be getting a replacement at no cost to myself I was astonished. I have heard wonderful things about Kindle Support however I have to admit I didn't feel that I would ever have a situation where I would rely on their good nature. Thanks Amazon! ![]() |

Yes Amazon's Kindle support is terrific, and it has made me an even bigger fan of both Amazon and the Kindle.

Amazon, for this reason, ranks right up there with Costco, for me. This is why EVERYTHING I buy is from one or the other of these two vendors.

I also have good things to say about Amazon's CS. However, when there is a true software issue/bug and their engineers need to get involved, it could take a long time or in some instances the bugs have not been fixed in almost a year.

Wow, it's incredible that they replaced your DXG at no cost after two years!
I also have had excellent customer service at Amazon. They recently replaced my year-old K3 Kindle Keyboard 3G due to a slight screen defect and a battery drain issue. I'm not sure if the parts inside this replacement Kindle are refurbished, but the outside is certainly brand-new! I'm very pleased. ![]() |

Unfortunately their knowledge level on issues is not always the best. You can spend hours trying to figure out an issue with them and often get the wrong answer. That said, they are courteous and will do whatever they can to make the customer happy.

A short anecdote about this. In one instance I had many emails and phone calls with them trying to diagnose an issue with Kindle 3 software. It was serious enough that I sent an email to Jeff himself without hoping for an answer. What do you know. I received a response from a lady high up in their hierarchy who said that Jeff assigned it to her to look into this issue. Whether or not Jeff actually read my email, I was impressed.
