Android app starting itself

Hey,
I have the Kobo app on my phone. It just notified me that I have "9 new recommendations" even though the app has not been run since I booted up my phone. This has happened a few times now.

Anyone know of a way to prevent the app from running itself?
The settings for the app are sparse and don't give me any options to control how it runs.

It wouldn't be such a big deal, but the app sucks up about 25mb of ram.

I have no idea how to turn off the recommendations, they get a little annoying because they seem to be just randomly picked books from the top 50.

I downloaded an app killer and find that that works quite well.

I noticed these annoying notifications too, and since I don't usually read on my phone I just uninstalled it.

yep. Even after I turned off all the notifications in the app, I still get a vibrate every morning at 530am telling me about a "new" recommended read. It's been the same book all week. Bye bye kobo app.

I recently installed the app on my Asus Transformer. I must say I was kinda disappointed. It has no where near the features of the iPhone/iPad version. Hopefully as Android gains in popularity Kobo will improve the features of the app. I was looking forward to being able to organize my books into shelves like I did onmy iPhone....and like I can't on my Touch. Oh well....maybe soon they'll add it.

turn off the notifications in your phone. that is why you are getting the notifications. the phone itself is what needs to be set.

Android does have the biggest market share, like 47% or close to there.

You have to be careful with those numbers. the typically published numbers will report new sales for a given period. It is not the installed base.
