MobileRead hits the spot......
You know, it quite surprises me that so many of the ereadering community have to be actually introduced or guided to MobileRead and its resources.
I'm always recommending it on "another place" (Sony Europe/UK) and get many PMs back saying what a great discovery, and sometimes they've had a reader for quite a while - I think I found it after about 2 weeks. Mind you, that's probly 'cos I'm keen on bargains.... I don't think it would be a bad idea to have it pre-entered on all readers, perhaps instead of those "100 free books" and guff etc.. - which they can get free anyway from Gutenburg etc.. or usually far better versions from here. ![]() |

Maybe we could all make a mention here and there. It can't do any harm. Maybe authors could include some kind of link in their books or when the mentions go down at Amazon - a credit for a quote etc ('wonderful stuff..' Joe 90 at mobile reads).

I've been doing something like this exactly since finding Mobile read. I had just gotten my Vox and was having some troubles so I turned to the trusty Google and found Mobile Read on more than one occasion with the answers I needed so I decided to stick around and learn more. As a bookseller, I'm good at selling these devices in my store and I needed the little extra help I found here to set up my Vox, even being electronic literate. So I've been pointing people who are considering buying the ereaders we sell here for set up help and a place to ask questions from a friendly community.

I found MR within hours of un-boxing my new ereader.
![]() I think this place is a wonderful resource... for readers and authors. I'm sure publishers hate us. ![]() |

I found MR while searching for a new ereader when the first one died. I didn't know back then about conversion or calibre either. I bought Opus which turned out to be a perfect ereader for my purpose - on the basis of what I read here prior to buying. Now additionally my elibrary is indeed safe and reusable.

I found MobileRead in 2006 and have been lurking for many years. Found MR by the many references made by members of BrightHand, a PDA and smartphone forum. Finally joined when I got my PocketEdge.
Just went back to BrightHand and retrived my old avatar. No longer faceless! |

When I first got my kindle, I went on a web wide search for all of the books and authors that were my favorites. Plus all of the classics that I have wanted to read, but never got around to do it.
This site was one of the first found, when I wanted convert other formats into something my kindle could use. But it took almost a month and several visits. For it to dawn on me what a jewel this site was! The best on the inter-webs! Bar none! Had to lurk for a while, before the itch too post overcame me! ![]() Great site, and great people! With a treasure trove of info and help! ![]() Last edited by DustyDisks; 11-22-2011 at 08:31 AM. |

I agree with everybody, this is a great site
![]() I also received some great help. Right after buying my first reader I found this forum with the help of Google. I followed this forum as a guest for a while and decided to register subsequently. |
