Red face OK I give up...

Well, I've managed everything except buy and add books using the ......y wifi, so I'd greatly appreciate a quick how to do it for Dummies ( well, actually A dummy, that's me, Mr. TechDummy )

I have my Reder for PC , I'm up to date on the various updates to .28.
I already have Adobe Digital from the 650, but do I need another version ? I never used it for the 650, or the Reader stuff, since I joined the Church Of Calibre...............and have bin "cheating" anyway by using the New Testament of Calibre anyway.
I have successfully downloaded by wifi a free book from Gutenberg, but that's the nearest I've got.

I've read the stupid manual till I've got sonyblindness, but, like all manuals, it never uses the words I need, or covers the subject I want to know about, and I prob'ly wouldn't understand it if it did.
At no stage in the thing do they settle down and say "here's how to buy a book from a store (NO, NOT THE NON-EXISTENT READER STORE!) and put it on your nice new T1. You need this, this and this, then do this, this and this.
We explain it simply like this because we want to make your life easier and be a contented Sony customer now and in the future."

PIGS MIGHT HOVER...

If there's no UK Sony Reader store how can you buy books from it? I don't think you can. Perhaps I'm missing something though.

Things are not that difficult. I buy books from various stores... remove DRM through Calibre, connect by T1 to the computer through USB, and load them on my T1. I don't use ADE, I don't use Reader for PC software, and there are no issues.

Perhaps the fact that I'm not trying to ?
And probably won't, should it ever materialise......

I'm trying to buy stuff from Waterstones, Smiths, etc ... with the wifi.

For example, I have a Waterstones account, but it still won't be nice to me....

( And yes, me connection's fine. )

The Browser's quite fun, and useful on occasions, but not that easy to use - or, for me, read.

Is your reader authorized for adobe drm? I just set up my mom's T1 for her Christmas present and bought her a book from Kobobooks and downloaded a book from feedbooks wirelessly.

Carpetmojo, have you verified the reader with Adobe through the reader software?

I've not made any purchases but was having trouble with downloading from my local library until I verified the unit with the Reader software and Adobe. Since completing verification I've not had a problem.

Had a look on Kobo site and some of the free books on Kobo don't seem to give you the option to download eg Count of Monte Cristo appears to require you to use the Kobo app.

There are a couple of promo codes to buy free books which I've posted in the Freebies section. I tried downloading one of the books from Kobo and it is possible to browse to the Kobo site, login and download a book directly to the T1 using wi-fi.

Most of the public domain books do not give you the download link on the Kobo site.

Sorry, this is ridiculous .....

I cannot buy from anywhere using wifi - obviously no Readerstore yet, but Waterstones, Smiths, etc... no joy whatsoever.

I'm told the reader I plug into PC is authorized etc... I have Adobe DE from my 650.
So I unplug, go to T1 browser, go to , say, Waterstones, buy a book, hit download....

Nothing happens in Adobe or Reader4PC, or in T1.

I presume it has something to do with Syncing, but can I find out anything useful in the "Help" section ?
OF COURSE NOT - after all, it's a Help guide, isn't it.

Can someone help me out here please ?
I'm presuming it's something plainly obvious, but.......

I presume you can open DRM protected books transferred to your T1 via the PC Reader software? If you can then I don't see how it can be a an Adobe problem.

When you download via wireless there should be a small icon in the top left of the T1 screen on the status bar. This should show a flashing arrow showing its downloading. If succesful this should change to a tick. If not successful it changes to an exclamation mark. I can successfully wirelessly download a book I purchased via pc from the Kobo site. (If I load a non-drm protected book onto something like box.net and download it from there I get the exclamation mark. Haven't a clue why.....)
