Removing DecalGirl Skins and your serial number

I wanted to change my Milky Way design I've had on my 350 for at least 8-9 months to a solid blue, so it looked more like the blue 350s that were sold in Europe. When I removed the old skin, it was really adhered good, it was pretty hard to pull off and doing so actually pulled it enough to make uneven ripples in the skin so you couldn't use it again, which I didn't mind at all really. But when I pulled it carefully off the back, it pulled the top layer of the tag with the serial number off with it. I tried to carefully peel that thin layer off the skin using an Exacto blade and couldn't do it without it shredding.

Just a warning to make sure you have your serial number recorded somewhere else (although I'm not sure how you'd prove it or need to for warranty replacements, hopefully the serial is also somewhere inside). It could also potentially be a problem if you had to prove a reader was yours that was stolen.

Just a heads up to make sure you have your serial number elsewhere as removing the skin will totally destroy it. I have it recorded on my PC, but I think I'll create an odd-named epub or pdf with the serial number and keep it on the reader as a backup and hope that will do.

Edit: The skin also had some of the silver printing from the back of the reader also stuck to it, where it says "Reader" at the center, and all the text and symbols from the bottom under the sticker. It didn't pull it all off though, it's more like a light coating left on the skin. It's still very readable from the back of the reader itself.

Allow a short technical note:
the last seven (7) digites of your serial-number can be found in simple ASCI in a file "serial" found in mtd10 - a cramfs-image.
