Using Calibre with my Sony PRS-T1

I am not sure if this is device related, but i have watched the demo on the calibre website, also gone through the FAQ on the site.
Here is the problem.
The user interface on my Calibre (yes, downloaded from the Calibre website just today) looks different to that on both the FAQ and the Demo. In itself, not a big deal, but the change has left me lost when it comes to connecting with my device.
The FAQ keeps telling me to go to - Preferences->Plugins->Device Interface
But the only options under Preferences are -
a. Change calibre behaviour
b. Run welcome wizard
c. Get Plugins
d. Restart in debug mode

I am trying to get into the device as my UI does not have the DEVICE option.
Also I cant seem to send any books to my device.

Can anyone help? I am tearing my hairs out!

When I press Preferences I get what is shown in the attached image - that does not sound anything like what you are getting. Perhaps you should show a screen shot so we can see what you say you are seeing.

I think that you must be talking about the drop-dpwn menu from when you click the arrow on the Preferences option - not what you get when you click the main button.

I believe you need to download the beta version as the T1 is not fully supported at this time. If you do a search for the calibre beta you should find the link to the beta.

Thanks itimpi. It seems that I was not clicking on it as instructed but clicking on the arrow next to the button.
Can you please advice me on how I can transfer books to my device? I have tried right clicking on individual books, selecting "Send to Device", "Send specific format to" ... but all the options are greyed out. Is this suggesting that calibre is not "seeing" my device?

Thanks trevgriff ... I guess that answers my last post. Looking for the beta now.

Ok, looked at the beta ... have no idea what to do with it! So I guess I will just have to be patient and wait for it to be officially released

Can anyone who has used Calibre before tell me if calibre is able to see what "collections" are already on the device and then duplicate the structure on the PC or does it force you to use "collections" set up in calibre and it will ignore existing "collections"?

With previous Sony e-Readers, and once the new driver is finished on the T1 as well, Calibre creates collections on the reader according to the tags stored in the metadata of the book.
I don't have a Sony so I don't know if it works the other way round as well, adding tags according to collections on the device.

I'm not really sure. The driver does tell Calibre what collections the device reports, but I don't know how Calibre then uses them (or not).

I am loaning some books to a co-worker and she gave me her brand new Sony T1. When Calibre didn't recognize it the process was frustrating. The icon bar would not show "Send to Device" nor would the library show "On Device". I was however able to "Save to Disk" by choosing "Save Single Format to Disk" select epub and navigate to the drive where the Sony is. For instance f:\books\sony\books\

This got the books on the device, but you could not easily see the library to determine what was on the thing unless you used MS Explorer...

Levi, you should be on the latest Calibre, which has the T1 driver in it.

And for the OP, Calibre will show what collections are on the T1, and even let you edit the collections a book appears in directly if you like.
