Help needed urgently with PRS Series and ebay

Hello my friends,

I sold the 650 on ebay as seldom used and have now problems with the buyer as he claims the reader was used massively due to the dark spots it has on the back near the sidebar. The dark spots were there almost from the start as they are caused by the plastic bar of the Sonycase.

Could those of you who have more than one reader or use their reader only rarely please post fotos of the readers back? Everyone else who likes to discuss this is welcome, too, of course

This would help me tremendously! Thank you!

I have a black PRS-650 with the light cover. I don't see any dark spots (or any spots) on the back of my 650.

Sorry to read of your troubles, Poppaea. I don't have any black spots on my pink 350 (which is in the Sony lighted cover). It still looks like new.

Possibly you had a bad fitting cover that rubbed excessively against the reader. I have skins on my 350s, and there's not even one spot that shows any wear at all as if the cover would be rubbing for either the standard or lighted cover (I have both). The skins looks perfectly new all along the spines.

If it's just from the plastic center black bar, I would think simply taking anything a bit gritty like extra fine steel wool and rubbing lightly would remove those black marks easily. Of course take extra care so you don't get any steel wool near the screen to mess with the infrared.

In hindsight, it probably would have been best to take pics of both sides of the reader clearly showing any type of flaw, no matter how small, and giving an explanation of what it's from.

Edit: Probably even an eraser would remove the marks if it's really from rubbing against the black plastic of the cover.

Actually I did not see/take it seriously and the pictures were taken by my friend as I have no camera. But I have these spots on both of my readers and the corresponding flaws on the bars of the covers. Funny to hear no else has this.

Can we see pictures of those? I have a 650, I'm struggling to work out exactly what/where you mean.

As one of the sellers on ebay myself, getting a picky buyer is who starts complaining about the device can lead to trouble. I'd just offer to refund the price if he sends it back immediately. You can always put it up for sale again. But a gripey buyer who doesn't like what he received can complain to ebay, give you back feedback, and in general make it an aggravating sale.

Be careful, I once bought something on eBay that wasn't quite as described. I called PayPal about it and they refunded my money and said I could keep the item. So don't let it get that far where you could end up losing the money and the 650.

Get it back and refund the money. eBay almost always sides with the buyer in situations like this.

I agree, it would probably be safest to just offer the whiny person a refund, then take better pictures for next posting and explain the black spots so there's no valid reason they can complain.

I know what you mean. I have those on my 350. Not VERY dark - but visible. But it is with my parents - my father borrowed it. Not sure if I can get some pics.

I don't have them on my 950.

Both have SONY lighted covers.
