Does Calibre run on Chrome OS?

Looking for a new computer, and I realize all I use a computer for is reading email, surfing the net, streaming videos, and Calibre. But if I can't run Calibre on Chrome, with the plug-ins I have installed, it is a nonstarted. Excuse my stupidity, but will windows programs run on Chrome OS?

Windows programs won't, but Linux-based might. Calibre will run on most/all Linux flavors currently available and Chrome is Linux-based. That said, my understanding is that Chrome's not intended for running general purpose programs. It's got a browser, a file manager and not much else.

Perhaps others have more specific info for you.

Thanks, Starson17. I see there is a thin, light Acer, which would probably be a good first start - see how I do without an optical drive (I like to record movies on DVD and then convert them to run on itunes). Chrome is probably too much, too soon.
