Studio pulling Harry Potter discs from stores December 29
Warner Brothers is taking a page from Disney.

The studio announced that it will pull all Harry Potter DVDs and Blu-rays from store shelves on December 29, 2011.

Disney has employed a similar strategy with animated hits like "Beauty and the Beast" and "Sleeping Beauty," re-releasing the movies in theaters and on tricked out versions for limited periods of time.

companies go out of their way to be anti-consumer and keep their products out of peoples hands yet they'll be honestly bewildered when people just torrent the films in droves.


either way, if you'll be buying this for the holidays you may want to buy them soon.

I think another possibility is that people will just go to other movies. If the Harry Potter series is not available, people will just go with other movies. I wouldn't be surprised if another movie series rises to take Potter's place.

Well I do still need the last half of the final movie.
I need it to join all the rest that I have as H264-AVC .mp4 files on my home
Server.

The DVDs I purchased, are all backups now.

I know the Disney example is somewhat extreme, but there are a number of DVDs
that are no longer being manufactured or actively distributed.
