PRS-505 Reader in Best Buy Sunday Flyer

The PRS-505/SC is in the Best Buy Sunday paper flyer or ad. In my area, it is in back pages on the same page as laptops. Found the ad page on-line at the BB website. The price is the $299 list price, so it is not on sale. But still for the Reader to be included in the Sunday ads says that Sony is pushing this year's models to a wider market. I have seen the Readers on display in the computer section at several of my local Best Buys in recent months, but those were showing the PRS-500.

I finally saw the PRS-505 a week ago at the Sony Style store in Tysons Corner. I brought a PRS-500 back in June after the price drop, but having seen the -505, I know I'm going to cave in and get one soon. The contrast improvement alone is too good to pass up. The BB ad and website shows the model # for the silver model, but I want to get the dark blue model. Have to check to see if BB will have it. Now I just have to see if I can be patient and wait until I get a 10% or 12% off discount coupons from Best Buy and use it on the PRS-505.

The sony store at tysons corner has the blue 505 in stock, bought it there a week ago. IMHO it looks much better than the silver.

Yes, after seeing both models in person, I would much rather have the dark blue model. The Best Buy website only shows the code for the silver model, so the question is whether Best Buy is actually stocking both colors, but is putting them both under the same model #. I'll have to check at the local Best Buy. All the 505 boxes at the local Borders that I could see in the case were the silver model.

But with the Bookeen now shipping, I should wait to see what the reactions are to it.

Yes, the dark blue looks so much better.

The way Sony is pushing it, I think we might see a good discount on Black Friday.

I think the advertising campaign by Sony is just beginning. While traveling through O'Hare in Chicago this week, I saw a large lighted marque for the 505 in the walkway between terminals A and C. It was perhaps 6 ft X 6 ft and had the same ad as shown on sony style.

BTW, I've been on two trips with the 505 and it has changed my flight experience. It's just so nice to be able to put away luggage and briefcase, grab the reader, and settle in for the flight.
