Reader slow down

I have had a PRS-300 for several years now and have noticed that about every 6 months it becomes really slow to operate. Paging through a book is fine but accessing any function, (home page/bookmarks/TOC), is very slow - it takes about 3 seconds for the selected screen to appear.

If I format the device and resend my books to it, (just over 100 books, sent using calibre), then everything is fine for another 6 months, with the home page appearing almost instantly on pressing the key.

Any ideas on how to stop this happening apart from formatting?

Try deleting history and reducing amount of history kept... zero is good...

I can't seem to find a history setting on the reader. Can you point me in the right direction?

I think I found it. On the root of the device I found a file called cacheExt.xml which appears to contain the history. I backed this up to my PC and then deleted it from the reader, and now it's running at full speed again.

So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
