				Reader slow down

I have had a PRS-300 for several years now and have noticed that about every 6 months it becomes really slow to operate. Paging through a book is fine but accessing any function, (home page/bookmarks/TOC), is very slow - it takes about 3 seconds for the selected screen to appear. If I format the device and resend my books to it, (just over 100 books, sent using calibre), then everything is fine for another 6 months, with the home page appearing almost instantly on pressing the key. Any ideas on how to stop this happening apart from formatting? |

Try deleting history and reducing amount of history kept... zero is good...

I can't seem to find a history setting on the reader. Can you point me in the right direction?

I think I found it. On the root of the device I found a file called cacheExt.xml which appears to contain the history. I backed this up to my PC and then deleted it from the reader, and now it's running at full speed again. So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. |
