v3.1 to v3.3 fails - resolved!

I had an interesting experience updating my K3 from v3.1 to v3.3 (I guess it now qualifies as a "Kindle Keyboard"). Mine wouldn't autoupdate when I did a "Sync & Check" so I downloaded the proper BIN file, correctly copied it to the root, and then made my "mistake".

I had three books in my "pending download to device" folder and took the opportunity to copy them to the K3's \documents folder while I had it connected. I then ejected properly and went through the correct steps on the Kindle to start the update. After a minute or two of chewing away at the update, my Kindle informed me that the update failed.

I was puzzled as I was certain I did everything correctly. It then occurred to me that perhaps I threw the poor thing a curve when I added the three new books. I checked and it was still indexing.

After waiting for about 10 minutes I checked the indexing again and it had finished. I moved over another copy of the BIN file (the updater had been deleted when it failed the first time) and triggered the update again (Settings screen menu ...). This time all went well.

Word to the wise, don't add books just before you intend to do an update. If you do, at least wait for indexing to fininsh.
