Hi There!
My name is Dawn, and I have visited MobileRead for several years now. Never posted, just absorbed the great information. This forum is an invaluable resource that always seems to have the answer.
I have a Sony 505, which I LOVE, but am afraid it will have to be replaced soon. Soon after I bought the 505, my sister just had to have one of her own. Maybe I should steal hers... it doesn't get read near as often as mine! More recently, we bought a PRS-300 for my mother. She loves it! (I prefer the 505.) Maybe that's because I get to put the books on it? |

Welcome! I started with the Sony PRS505 too, and still have it, but earlier this year decided to try Nook. I currently have the Nook touch, but Sony has a new version of reader called the T-1 that I would probably have bought if it had been out when I was shopping this spring.
![]() Some of the big differences between the 505 and this years's releases include: speed of processing, touch screen, wi-fi capabilities. But hang on to your 505 as long as you're comfortable using it, there's always bigger and better right around the corner. These days you can include "cheaper" too. Vic |

Thanks for the welcomes!
Vic, I have started researching a new or replacement reader, but I really do LOVE the 505. The faster processor is the only draw for something new, but the 505 usually does a great job. Once in a while, I get a book it doesn't "like" and it takes forever for the pages to turn. Otherwise, completely happy. I was having charging issues with the 505, which prompted me to start looking for alternatives. Fortunately, the 505 is behaving, and I hope to keep it around for years to come. I will eventually get an itch for something new, but the learning curve for each new piece of technology is sometimes too daunting. I love the comfort zone, so I put off change as long as possible! Again, thanks for the welcome... Dawn |
