Will there be a Kindle DX Touch?

I'm surprised Amazon didn't announce a Kindle DX Touch also. Has anyone heard anything on it?

While amazon has not announced anything I am pretty sure the DX is dead, the 10" tablet will be its replacement.

Hard to tell. DX is long overdue for a major upgrade. On the other hand price point of almost twice the cost of Kindle Fire does sound ridiculous

Smile DX

Oh how i wish they would release a DX touch! I've always held off on buying a kindle due to not liking the clunky zoom boxes they have! While i'm hoping there will be a more streamlined and tablet like handling of zoom and pan in the 6" kindle touch (which i'm going to have to use a forwarder to import), i've always wanted a DX, for pdfs, textbooks, comics/manga...plus i'm learning to draw so copying greyscale on a 9.7" inch eink screen would do me fine.

I've always held that they could corner the market if they had one stand out e-ink device for academic/student use....

Though i suppose it's quite possible they may be waiting till the shine wears off on the new kindle releases to annouce the coming of a new DX model.

I'm afraid you're right. I'd love a DX refresh (touch, better PDF handling), but I don't think there'll be one. I'm hanging on to my DXG for dear life...

Yes, I agree. Amazon launched the DX primarily as a reader for students, but there were a few trials in various colleges which were deemed a failure. That's why the DX has remained a device of the Kindle 2 generation. It's a dead product.

Quite. The fact that the price hasn't dropped at all since the introduction of the DXG is ominous, in my opinion. Certainly with the new lineup in place it's crazy expensive compared to the rest of them.

I fear the DX will be a dead end.

https://www.washington.edu/news/arti...le-in-academia

A study of how University of Washington graduate students integrated an Amazon Kindle DX into their course reading provides the first long-term investigation of e-readers in higher education. While some of the study’s findings were expected – students want improved support for taking notes, checking references and viewing figures – the authors also found that allowing people to switch between reading styles, and providing the reader with physical cues, are two challenges that e-readers will need to address in cracking the college market.

Which would suck. I want my eInk screen! Reading on a tablet (I have an iPad 2) really sucks.

I really hope I'm wrong, but I am afraid we're a niche amazon isn't interested in anymore.

My guess is that they see the DX as a failed product (at that price? shocking...). They want to sell to the masses, and 10" eink devices aren't part of that picture.

They probably saw the HP TouchPad $100 fire sale/liquidation as a confirmation that their strategy was right...

What to to, what to do? Buy a $400 DXG now and watch it lose 75% of its value if amazon releases an update at the same time as the 10" tablet at the end of the year, or hold off for something that will never come...

If you click on the "Buy A Kindle" link at amazon all the kindles are lined up along the top, except for the DX. You have to scroll to the bottom of the page on the comparison chart to find the DX.
