external keyboard reader site

Hi

I got my EE today. The reason for buying it was the possibility to write with an external keyboard on the "reader side". Is that true?

I havent not rooted or updated yet.

If by 'reader side' you mean the e-ink screen then the simple answer is, no. The only way of writing on the e-ink screen is by using the stylus (don't loose it, it contains some miniature electronics to allow it to work with the wacom digitizer.

A lot depends on what you want to do. If you want to use the e-ink screen just like the LCD screen then there is no way unless you write the necessary apps and interface. By interface in mean things like a keyboard interface and something that would allow the display of individual letters and numbers in lines. I can't see that happening unless the Russians do something like that for their schools project and then there is the problem of getting it.

If, on the other hand you only want to read what you have written on the e-ink then that is possible after you have saved your document as either a PDF or ePub.

Who told you that? I think you misunderstood: you can add notes by writing with the keyboard, but these notes appear on the tablet side.

No need to root, just update it

Again, as I said, it depends on exactly what you are trying to do. Without knowing that it is very hard to say if it will work or not - we aren't mind readers you know

If you are wanting direct input i.e. press a key and the letter appears on the e-ink screen then you are out of luck, it doesn't work that way and never will until someone writes the necessary interfaces.

If, on the other hand, you want to read a page of typing you have done on the LCD side on the e-ink screen then maybe lcd2eink will do what you want.

Another thing against direct keyboard input is screen refresh rate. Anyone using more than one finger to type would be so far ahead of the screen that they would lose the thread of what they were typing.
