DPI setting in ABBYY FineReader
I observed that ABBYY red flagged the image resolution setting during a process. It gave me the option to open the image editor, which I did. The image editor showed that 200 DPI (fax image) was selected for the image. As someone who doesn't like compromise, I promptly closed and re-initiated the job with an attempt at getting rid of the absurd process (who uses fax machines anymore?). I opened the Options... dialog which appears after one selects their desired output on the colorful menu. The only relevant option was Correct image resolution, which I unchecked. The result was the same red flag came up and the image was still set to 200 DPI (presumably this means the image was set to be converted to 200 DPI). I observed a feature to detect the DPI of the source image, which showed that the image in question had a DPI of 510. As seen in the screen shot, I'm able to change the DPI settings and as is implied, there's an option to apply the settings to all images in the input document (I haven't even tested that yet), but why wouldn't there be a way to tell ABBYY FineReader to not mess with my images from the start?
It should be noted that this was tested using the HTML process, as it was recently discussed that there's a glitch in ABBYY FineReader's EPUB process of a slightly different nature that involves forcing all images to be converted to 150 DPI during file save.* Initially I used EPUB and after observing the offense that ABBYY FR was exacting to my document I changed to HTML, remembering the related glitch that occurs with EPUB. Saving as HTML works for the other glitch, but using an HTML selection from the colorful menu does not prevent the issue that is the subject of this thread. *https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...87&postcount=6 Last edited by u238110; 03-14-2015 at 05:56 AM. |
