Content A (possibly dumb) question regarding conversion

When one mails a file to the @kindle.com address, what/who does the conversion? Is it a bunch of people in an office doing each conversion manually and mailing it forward to the kindle, or is it an automated process, or does it depend on the file format?

I'm guessing its completely automated, but I'd like to be sure, as a sort of precaution for mailing sensitive documents to my kindle.

Also, I'm curious

It is automated and instantaneous.

It is completely automated, and Amazon does NOT keep copies of personal files.

Of course, if these are sensitive documents that you don't want anyone else to see, you really shouldn't be e-mailing them. E-mail is not a secure method of communication, and your message can be intercepted and read on any of the machine that your message is passing through. Why not do the conversion yourself? The online conversion service is essentially just an automated version of Mobipocket Creator.
