JBL-like e-reader with Pearl screen?
I have been using a JBL for a year now and I love its simplicity. I store all my books on an SD card and I manage the books using Windows Explorer. The directory structure is very simple - Books\Author. I do not have to use any complicated software, not even Calibre, to manage my library! But, I would like to get an e-reader with an e-ink screen. So, the question I have is "Is there an e-reader as simple as JBL but with an e-ink Pearl screen?" No Kindles please as my books are either .txt or .epub. And it must have an SD card slot. What I would want to do is simply take out the SD card from my JBL and put it into the new e-reader and it works! Is there such a reader or am I asking for too much? I had hopes for the new Sony e-reader but I don't think it fits the bill. Appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. Read up some reviews on the Onyx. Checked out the Onyx forum here too. Really too many bells and whistles for me. I still buy hardcopy books and when I read these books, I don't have a pen in one hand and I don't have a dictionary next to me. I'm trying to relax and enjoy myself with a good read. Why on earth are manufacturers putting all these nonsense in an e-reader? I don't need Wi-Fi. I don't need 3G. I don't need touch screens. I don't need dictionaries. I just want to read, dammit! Help! Help!

Did you really look at the Boox X60 and not the A60? The X60 does not have WiFi and does not have a touchscreen. And as long as you don't install a dictionary you don't have one. One important reason why I suggested this reader to you is that it supports directories in the way you want to, as opposed to the 'big brands'. The Pearl version of the X60 is gradually finding it's way over the world, so whether you can easily buy it at this moment depends a bit on where you are.

If you can find a Sony PRS-350, that would be fairly simple to use.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I'll have to get the latest Sony e-reader; it's cheaper than the older 350. No other choice if I want to have e-ink. Or maybe I'll just stick with my JBL and get an Android tablet to read books and comics instead.

Look around for the 350. You might be able to find it for a price cheaper than the $149 that TI will go for. I got my 350 for $90 at a closing Borders and there has been more than one poster who has mentioned finding the 350 for around $119.
