Personalize screensavers?

I am really, really intrigued by this new Nook Touch. I love the fact that all your books are shown together instead of separating the B&N books from "my library". One thing I am really wondering about is whether or not I will be able to personalize my screensaver/wallpaper like I am able to do on the Nook Classic. Has anyone done this on their new Nook Touch yet?

There is a "Screensaver" folder. I haven't placed anything in there.

Yes. In the folder screensavers create a new folder, name it whatever, and put your images there (same resolution as the old Nook, 600x800, 4-bit grayscale). You have to put the images into a folder or they won't show up when you go to pick the screensaver from settings.

There no longer is a wallpaper since there actually is no such concept on the STR UI.

No wallpaper!?! Sad face. I really like changing my wallpaper to suit my mood on my classic Nook. Hmmm. I may have to tinker with my nook to improve the library management so that the Touch will stop tempting me.

I know companies steal good idea from other companies. But why are companies stealing bad ideas? The slideshow in the Kindle is a rather bad idea and why did Sony & B&N steal it? At least with Sony, it's optional and I can opt out. No idea if it is optional with B&N.

If by slideshow, you are referring to the screensaver changing each time you use it, you can "opt out" by selecting a screensaver with just one image in the folder.

It's funny how one person's good idea is another person's bad idea. I really like the changing screensavers.

I like being able to customize the screensaver. It adds personalization, and it's fun. As long as you can add your own pictures or turn it off it's not so bad. I find the Kindle screensavers annoying because I can't change them by default (I know there's a hack). I like Kobo idea to show the cover of the book you are currently reading too.

It's not a screensaver. An eink screen doesn't need to be saved. So it's just a slideshow and what does that slideshow do? Waste your battery.

It does not "waste your battery" at all, because the e-ink screen only uses power when the screen changes. That's why the e-reader vendors quote battery life in page-changes...

Uh... it's not a slideshow. When the device goes to sleep it pops up one of the images in the folder. That's it. You wake, put it back to sleep and the next image is shown. There is no slideshow.

Oooh, Sony lets you do that? I've got a new 950 and I'll need to check that out. I like the changing screensavers.

Actually, I think the image will change even without waking it, if you wait long enough. I have definitely had mine do that. However, it happens so seldom that it can hardly be much of a drain on the battery, IMHO.

Also, you have no choice - the authors will appear anyway - so might as well make some of your own.

It does take power to put the image from the slideshow on screen. It does take power to get the image from the slideshow off the screen.

OK, so on the nook it's not quite a slideshow. But it still isn't a very useful feature (IMHO). One of amazon's worst ideas (other then sticking to Mobipocket) and others are copying it or using a variation. I just don't get it.

With Sony, you don't have to hack your x50 device to be able to use pictures you want.
