For US readers: Doubleday Book Club

I've been a member of the Doubleday Book Club for a year, and it's saved me a great deal of money, both for books for myself and books for Christmas and birthday presents. These are typically hardback best sellers issued the same day the books are released in the stores. I've noticed more fiction than non-fiction, but I've given my nieces many cookbooks.

They currently have a tell-a-friend special offer: The first five books are 99 cents total. When you join you can also buy one or two in addition for $5.99 each. Your commitment is to buy four books at the Club discount price (typically around $16) in the next year, but if you buy a book for $5.99 when you join, your commitment is reduced to three books.

You have the Club's entire catalogue to choose from.

Here's the link.

I believe that the Club only serves US residents.

I notice that the screen says "Choose from these best sellers below". But in fact, if you look at the upper left, it says "Shop by Category".

If you click on the "View All" link just below that, it will take you hours to search through all of their books to select what looks most interesting to you.

Sorry if this is a stuipid question but are these e-books? Because I don't have any interest in DTBs. Thanks for posting.

No, they're all dead tree books. If I'm not mistaken, the original poster will probably get one or more free book(s) for each person who signs up.

Yes, that's right. They are print books, not eBooks.
