For those who need MultiFormat or prefer DRM-free, a large number of these seem to be on special sale direct from the publisher, over at Ellora's Cave's "Values from the Vault" page.

They've got 25 pages (and seem to be adding more; up from 24 last night when I went and picked up the Gellis historicals) of discount e-books; some even cheaper than Amazon's price at 99 cents and up, with no extra surcharge for international customers.

And it's not all erotica (though a good chunk of it is, obviously), and tamer romance readers can enjoy some sale books from their non-erotic Blush line and also find what look like reprints of classic backlist author books as well, if they're willing to dig through a lot of covers of scantily clad people looking like they're in the middle of sexyfuntimes (unfortunately there's no real way to sort the sale books by author, genre, or price, so brute-force browsing is the only way to find out if what you want is cheaper there; or direct search and comparison click).

And there's also a bunch of m/m romances if you're into that, as well.

Here are some of the 99 cent ones which I noticed which had notes on the page or author bio saying they were backlist reprints:

Roberta Gellis: A Woman's Estate (Heiress #5) and A Silver Mirror (Royal Dynasty #4)

BTW, if you like Gellis' medieval romances, Baen who normally sells sf/fantasy has a 4-book bundle of them at discount pricing which amazingly hasn't expired like it was supposed to 2 months ago. Details in this thread if you'd like to pick it up while it lasts, along with 6 free fantasy romances of hers from various Baen promotions.

Actually, they did, but you have to trawl through all the sale pages and look for the right sort of cover art or the "Spectrum" banner above the titles. I spotted at least 3 m/m novels earlier that were 1.99 or less.

Take heart. I found at least 3 4 obvious m/m romances on the first 5 pages alone, just by looking at the cover images*. So it probably won't be like looking for 5 needles in a 25-page haystack.

I advise using Firefox and turning the "picture zoom" function up high so that it's easier to spot the Spectrum LGBT line banner on the cover art for the ones that are less obvious about having two naked male torsos on the front.

Also, you might want be sure to note the length on the side. Some of them are just short tie-in novellas going for the same price as the full-length series novels.

Yeah, judging from their freebies, Ellora's Cave are kind of a mixed bag quality-wise when it comes to their original stuff unless it precisely happens to hit one's specific reading kink and one is willing to overlook little writing lapses in order to get a story with a wizard swordswoman and a shapeshifting half-dragon half-fae teaming up to fight crime have sexyfuntimes in a trendy Manhattan neighbourhood.

Which is why I only went and got those Gellis backlist books (and I'm not normally a romance reader besides that).

Definitely getting the longer-length Amazon samples and looking for reviews from people who seem trustworthy is the way to go if you're not already familiar with the authors.

Well, not only are these still on sale @ Amazon, but Ellora's Cave has actually and finally made their "Values from the Vault" sale page for these filterable by category so you can more easily pick the themes & subgenres you're interested in.

Still no way to sort by author/title, but much better than before.

And most of the same titles there are only 99 cents and DRM-free MultiFormat, which may make it cheaper than buying at Amazon, especially for people outside the US/UK/Canada/Australia who still have to pay the extra $2 Whispernet surcharge.

Looks like they've also added a lot more titles (now @ 102 pages!); there are at least 6 more of the Roberta Gellis backlist books on sale for 99 cents each:

The English Heiress, The Cornish Heiress, The Kent Heiress

Fire Song, Siren Song, Winter Song

Just two more titles to add and they'll have the entirety of her "Heiress" and "Royal Dynasty" series on sale for less than $10 total.

Anyway, the Ellora's Cave stuff has been on sale for a couple of months now, so you can probably wait another week or so (in case it's just a Summer-long special and not a perma-promo, I don't think I'd wait much longer for anything really wanted, just in case).
