The BBC reports it the other way round, with The FT doing the pulling rather than Apple doing the pushing:

To be fair, both are seeking a headline, as "FT app withdrawn as expected since it does not follow the rules laid down some months ago, the merits of which have been discussed at length throughout the media and blogosphere" doesn't quite cut it.
