Converting Kindle textbook rentals?

Can I convert Kindle textbook rentals the same way as with regular Kindle books?

Depends on the individual book I would think.

Thank you for your venom, Harry. People like you are why I normally don't actively participate in forums.

Anyway, I found my answer.

I wasn't being venomous; I was simply stating a fact. People here at MobileRead are keen on supporting the legitimate eBook industry, and removing time-limiting DRM to allow you to keep your textbooks forever is not something which we permit to be discussed here.

Sorry, it's very easy to read a negative tone in your statement.

I'm not planning to keep it forever. I just want to be able to read it away from my laptop. I have a Bebook One and it doesn't read Kindle books and it's hard to devote long periods of time to reading anything on my phone.

I buy plenty of ebooks but I'm unemployed at the moment.

You asked (a bit out of the side of your mouth) how to defeat the protections of a 'Textbook', which violates the forum rules (that you agreed to abide by when you joined).
Now you mouth-off to a greenie, who was gently reminding you of a prohibited topic

Do I like DRM... NO!
If you paid for the permanent use (can't use bought because you no longer buy books, only a license ), you should have the right to use it (single use) any way you choose.

Please, let's not continue in this vein. My post was misinterpreted; that's an end to the matter. I should perhaps have explained the situation at greater length in my initial reply.

Unfortunately we have to make a distinction between DRM removal from books which you've bought (and want to transfer to a different device) and those which are time limited, such as library books or rented textbooks. I think that most of us would agree that we have no problem with the former, but that the latter is, to say the least, unethical.

This is still off-topic, but: If a user was to remove the DRM of a rented or loaned book and read it only for as long as he is allowed to, after which period he deletes all files, it wouldn't be any more unethical than removing DRM from a book you own. I know that this assumes lots of good will on the part of the user, but I'm still not totally embittered and have some faith in people left, despite my growing age
