Modified column
Not sure where to put this so I choose the main page
I was updating metada manually (one book at a time) on a number of books and calibre froze (not responding) in the download metadata screen. After an hour I closed the program and restarted it. I had edited approximately 30-50 books and thought that I could quickly find the ones I wanted by sorting on the modified column. Unfortunately 907 books showed as being modified today. The ones that I remember modifying are interspersed randomly. Scrolling down a bit, the other dates looked reasonable so I am wondering what happened. Helen |

Using Next and Previous in the Metadata editor updates the Modified date, even if no changes were made (just passing thru). Did you Manage tags, Authors from the Tag browser? BTW QTwebkit crashed Calibre on me once today (happens about once a week) |

@the ducks
I had in searchbox tags:false when it crashed. did not press next or previous on more than 50 books which were all modified. Did not manage tags or authors or anything. I started calibre typed tags:false in searchbar and was happily downloading data one book at a time when it crashed. I restarted it found the modified column and clicked on it. Not the end of the world or even upsetting, perhaps disconcerting. I can just convert all 907 books and carry on ![]() Just wonder what I could have done. Calibre usually only crashes when I have typed something stupid in the book conversion search and replace which I haven't done today (so far ![]() Helen |

![]() add to the list, many of the plugins like Quality check, count pages will trigger an update (because they did some change). |

Something as simple as changing the case of a tag/renaming it means that all books that have the tag are modified.

Thanks for the replies.
I didn't actually do anything other than start calibre, type in the searchbox, select the first book and individually download data, select the metadata and the cover and then hit next. I live alone and was at work all day. Not of great importance and most likely the work of elves ![]() Helen |
