Good quality stylus for Irex 800s?

Hi again - I need a backup stylus and I want a good quality one.

(unfortunately I tried to buy one just as Irex went into liquidation last year - and I lost my money!!)

What alternatives are there? I don't see any concrete example in the thread about it, other than references to the now defunct irex models.

I want something to buy form amazon or similar from an wacom vendor.

Just search for "penabled" wacom pens on Amazon. I got one for about USD 27, the thicker version. No need to get the more expensive ones with eraser -- won't work on the Irex, anyway.

As mentioned, you need a Wacom "penabled" stylus. There are several different tablet products from Wacom, and they're not all compatible with each other, so be careful.

I believe the ones labeled "penabled tablet pc ..." from here should work:

The stylus which come with the SG version is not that acurate. Is this a problem of the device, or a better stylus would be more accurate?

I believe that's more a factor of the screen, calibration, and/or software than the stylus.

I did some measurements with the stylus, the accuracy seems to be worse at the sides of the screen. The compensation of the DR firmware does not seem to handle this properly.
I used the 'standard' stylus, I do not know if accuracy increases if you buy a more expensive pen (maybe more expensive or bigger components (coils) give better results near the sides).

In short no. That is a standard problem for all Wacom screens. Used to be the same on my laptop. Usually a software upgrade can fix it -- but we can't hope for that, can we?

The code that compensates the values read from the wacom device to screen values is published, so we (as community) can change it.
That would require technical information on better algorithms to translate the wacom values to screen values.

Thanks for the tips on this! Any tips for a good online shop in the EU (UK or Sweden)?
