Calibre book titles

I find the abbreviations used for titles in calibre are misleading. Is there anyway to expand the title fully so i know which book i am looking at?. Thankyou.

GIGO
Calibre uses the titles supplied by your book. Be it from filename or internal Metadata as set in preferences.
the only time Calibre does anything is during internal operations to maintain a maximum of 74 character path.
So if you Library name is:
really absurd name for a library of science fiction books/
and you put the Library in you user name path

Longer Author-Title names will get truncated to stay valid in Windows (everyone else has to comply to allow library interchange)

What sort of abrevoations are you talking about?

Calibre titles are as you (or your metadata siurce) provide. Calibre does not abreviate this data.

What abbreviations? Calibre doesn't abbreviate titles.

As others have said, Calibre doesn't use any abbreviations for titles. Where are you seeing these abbreviations?

Guessing: I'd say it's likely you are importing files into Calibre and have the option set to read metadata - including the title and author - from metadata stored inside the book. If that metadata from your book has funky abbreviations, that's what you will see.
