Good day, eh!

Good morning everyone, my name is Kate but it was taken so I went by my childhood version of Katy (the R stands for Ruth, if anyone was curious ) and it works too so here I am.

I've been perusing your fine forum for weeks now and finally got around to posting... y'see, (I just realised this the other day, but it really is the way, lol) my Mom and I are copycats. We pick up each others toys and interests and run with them... well, she was given Kindle by her brother. I had thought about a reader for a few years but hadn't done anything about it... until she had one. (this is actually what caused the epiphany of copycat syndrome, heh)
So anyhow... I wasn't entirely keen on the Kindle (besides not really wanting to look like a copycat, even if I was one) so I started looking at eReaders and then tablets, weighing pros and cons... and one thing that was apparent, regardless of which search or info I was on at the moment, odds were high that this forum had something on it.

Anyhow, bottom line is, I bought a new PocketEdge off of eBay, I love it, and you are my new gurus.

Other pertinent info;
My Mom is in her 80's and I wasn't a late child
My marriage has crossed the 3 decades mark and we haven't killed each other so it must be working
Our children have all grown (except the youngest who chooses to procrastinate on that as long as possible) and successfully, so that musta worked too
I like cats, which is probably a good thing as I live with 7 (in addition to the Husband and the Daughter)
I'm still capable of learning new stuff, but I prefer to limit it to only as much as I need to know to enjoy whatever it is I am doing.
I think that's good for a start... oh yah!
and
My new Pocket is Red.

Hello and welcome to MR, KatyR. I'm sure you'll find what you want on these pages. There's quite a variety of subjects to interest a reader of e-books.

Welcome Katy! Where in Canada do you live, and which is your favorite CFL team?

Thanks for all the welcomes

I'm on the Wet Coast, east of Vancouver, but I grew up in Calgary so that means if I were to root for a team it'd have to be the Lions or the Stampeders. Or, oddly enough, the Roughriders - when we were growing up, football was a Big Thing in our house... the Grey Cup entailed a day of chili and beer amongst family and friends, usually at our place, and the Roughriders were also a family favourite. Don't ask me why, I don't really care... during the festivities, when not taking advantage of all the treats, I would be the one off reading.

Good to have your company, Kate. If you hit any snags with your Entourage Edge of you mom with her Kindle, you'll find help in the EE- and Kindle-dedicated sub forums here. Happy e-reading and best wishes to you both. Best wishes. Neil

Welcome fellow Canadian KatyR, I'm from Sudbury, Ontario. Also new to ereader but am loving it. Great for trips and the cottage - usually I have to pack one suitcase just for books. Happy reading.

Welcome, Kate. What an interesting way of stating your age... your mom is in her 80s. Love it. My mom is upper 80s.
Competition can be a good thing.... have at it.
Enjoy your stay, here.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you
When my Mom gets home from her latest gallivanting road trip, I will tell her to come visit... she is a clever puss though, she tells people she doesn't know how to do something geeky and gets volunteers.

I am hearing you on the suitcase, BigRedKobo... I wanna go on vacation now, just so's I can take my new book!

The Husband and I had to go to an appt last week and the place was packed, what shoulda taken 20 minutes in reality took just over 2 hours. He called me a bad name 'cause I had my book and he had people-watching.

It was awesome.
