Question Nook Touch

I'm looking to buy a Nook Touch. It's the only e-reader I'm interested in (unless you have a working Kindle DX for $140), so don't offer me the Color or G1.

Thing is, for reasons specified in this thread, Barnes & Noble doesn't ship internationally. I live in Santiago, Chile and none of the suggested methods are convenient:
  • Buying from another store is too expensive
  • Using a US postal address means paying custom duties here
  • eBay buyers are either too expensive, or can't ship via USPS First-Class Mail.
  • Craigslist is not an option, since the charges for either PayPal or a wire transfer are too high. And it's too fishy.

I need someone to either buy for me a Nook in the States, or sells me his/hers (obviously, for a lower price than a new-in-box one, although I prefer new). I'll send you the money for it and the estimated shipping costs in an envelope via regular mail. When the cash arrives, you make the purchase and send it back to me.

Can anyone do this very important favor for me?

No, bad luck. All vendors charge outrageous charges for shipping ($50-$70) for a box that's a little bit over a pound.

I'm honestly having trouble understanding the redaction of the post, between the odd capitalization and the excessive exclamation marks. I need the nook for my college papers and reports. I'm majoring in History, so I'm reading a lot of PDFs and other kinds of documents. Since the Nook is rootable, works for me. The Nook works perfectly outside the US: the only thing I can't do is buy eBooks from their store.

I unfortunately cannot help you with the nook but if you are going to read a lot of PDFs I would also suggest looking at the Sony 350/650. I am also reading a lot of history course work and other pdfs and as far as I read from the reviews the Sony is the only ereader with proper PDF support so that one can read PDF books on the small screens. Do make sure that the Nook can handle PDFs properly. For example I tried out the new Kindle but the PDF options were dreadful compared to the functionality I then got with sony 650. I know its a bit more expensive but certainly worth it. Unfortunately they dont have wifi but Sony is introducing the next generation of their ereaders in August which are coming with wifi.

If you are going to be reading a lot of PDF, get a netbook.

Do you have a PayPal account? I don't think cash in an envelope will be something anyone will accept. But I suppose you could find someone to get you a nook if you pay all costs involved via PayPal.

I ship stuff overseas all the time and a package sent out of the country cost a lot of money. I send stuff to Belarus and to ship it express it cost between $40 and $50 and usually gets there with in a week. Fist class mail is a little cheaper but can take almost a month to get there.
Express, Priority, and First Class mail.

Priority Flat Rate

As you can see, the shipping charges vary greatly. I will be willing to help you out but you are going to have to be patient since using the cheapest form of shipping will take some time. And to make it better you will not be able to track the package once it leaves the United States. You can ask around of those who I have shipped items to so you can make sure you are not going to get ripped off...

You can send me a PM if you want to chat some more about it...
