Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
We went to the midnight showing and it was pretty epic. I purposely resisted rereading the last book because it always frustrates me when I do that. Now I can't wait to start rereading it after work this afternoon.
It wasn't the best midnight showing in terms of audience. There were quite a few shushers and I think one of the best things about a midnight showing is how into it people get. This includes gasps, clapping, laughing, and even random people shouting at characters on the screen. Well maybe not that last one ![]() Yes we did dress up since it was the last one, I got to be Umbridge because I own an inordinate amount of pink things, lol. So did anyone else go out and see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 last night? If so, what did you think? |

I still haven't watched the last...two movies? Order of the Phoenix was the last one I watched in the theater. I'm not crazy about the last two books, compared to the first five, and that might explain my reluctance. We own all of the discs, so I really have no excuse to have not seen them.
I told my husband we need to watch them -- at least the last two that we haven't seen yet, if not all of them -- and then go see the last one whle it is still in the theater. |

What was the part one about?
It was not a film, only how they were filming it? |

MY husband and I watched The Deathly Hallows Part I on DVD the other night, in preparation for going to see the final film in the cinema. I haven't bothered to see them all in the cinema, but the last one had pretty good reviews and apparently the special effects are amazing.
The only thing for us to sort out whether to go to see it in Switzerland or wait till we can see it in England. Most versions shown locally will be dubbed into French. I hate dubbed films and avoid them on principle. One cinema is showing the English version, but it will have subtitles in French and German taking up half the screen. Might be better to wait. |

Up until the sixth book, each book corresponded to one film. But they decided with the seventh (and last) book to split it in half for filming, so there are two films: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. It's the second one that has just come out.

Nope. They felt with so much to be resolved in the storyline that the only way they could do it proper justice was to split it into two movies (or so I understand). I haven't seen the 2nd part yet though I don't know if it's even in the theater here yet either. I look forward to seeing Harry give ole Voldie what for. lol. Course I've seen the trailers and want to see them in their proper context within the film too.

I watched it on Friday; end of teenagehood! (actually it should have ended a while back based on age, but whatever)
![]() Read all 7 books in one week before going for the movie, and loaded said books (cough cough) on my new Nook so I can be fussy and complain about specific parts of the movie afterwards. Turns out I have few complaints! This has got to be the most coherent HP movie so far lol, not that it's saying much. But it's a decent end to a widely popular and loved series. Cried at some parts, obviously. Even though I knew what was coming. |

My wife and I saw it yesterday. The movie was OK. If we hadn't seen all the others, I probably would have happily passed on this last one. We wasted the extra money to see it in 3D. I think 2D would have been much more than adequate. Very few things in the movie took advantage of 3D capability.
The best part of the movie was to see how much the children had grown. What started as 10-year-old actors in the first film are now young adults and some of them really took off in terms of growth. Perhaps one of the worst things about the final installment was that many of the characters, for example, Hagrith, had very bit parts that were wholly unnecessary to the story. In fact, it is never explained how Hagrith was captured by Voldemort's minions nor why he was at the final battle between HP and Voldy. One of the best things about the movie was the 19 years later segment, especially the glimpse of Draco and family. Well, the best I can say for the final HP movie is that it isn't the worst movie I have seen (nor the best) but that it was interesting how they managed to leave so that future episodes (the next generation) could be forthcoming should Rowling decide that a billion dollars is too small a sum. |

It was a good sendoff for the series.
