Hello from Greece

Hello everyone!
I'm Kerinta and i live in a small island called Syros.
I LOVE reading so i think it was only natural for me to end up with no more space for my precius books , so thats how i discovered the infamous ebooks and thats how ive come to meet you all.
I've been reading your posts as a visitor for months now trying to deside which reader will best suit me.
By the way you all were extremely helpfull althow i ended up more confused as i kept reading to what you had to say.
Ereaders in Greece, in my opinion, are a little overpriced and with shortcomings at work im hesitant to give all that money on a devise (aprox 300 euros) that may not suit me.
Well, nice to finally speak to you happy new year everyone and lots and lots of good reading!

That's approximately $390USD wow. I wonder if US retailers will ship over seas. Some internet retailers will ship to anywhere in Europe if you pay for shipping.

Hello everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome.
I've been looking at all the devises that we have in Greece right now and truth be told they are considerably more expensive than in other countries.
For example the Bebook One is at 300 euros at the time and the Cybook Gen3 on sale at 235euros. These where my first choices among the ereaders mostly because they're not touch screen (people have been complaining about glare) and the reflow.
But now reading to your posts im very interested in the pocketbook devises but unfortunately the oficial site doesnt ship to Greece.
I had a look at amazon and ebay but they cost around 100-120 euros more than the official price.
Any suggestion would be most appreciated!
Its been a bit of a rough time for me and my books are precius friends, i would love to fianlly get me my ereader and get down to relaxing reading.
Once again thank you all

There is no glare on the Cybook Gen3 (at least not on my model which is nearly 3 years old), but there is on my Pocketbook 302....

Borders has this to say about international shipping:

Includes shipping for all locations not served by domestic, domestic extensions, or Canadian shipping. See below for important information about customs/import duties, customer charges, and local delivery.

When using the International Shipping Chart, note the following:

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays observed by the post office, UPS, or FedEx.

If your order includes gift cards, they will be charged as books are. Please note that gift cards are only redeemable online or at U.S. Borders, Borders Express, Waldenbooks, and Brentano's retail locations.

Shipping Chart—International

Shipping Method Estimated Shipping Time* Shipping Charge Per Order Shipping Charge Per Item
International Standard** 7-21 Business Days 6.16 euros Books/Calendars + Any Other Product 6.16 euros Music/DVD/Post/Arts & Crafts/Scrapbooking Only 4.22 euros per Book/Calendar items .76 euros per Music/DVD/Post/Arts & Crafts/Scrapbooking item

I think the shipping would be 4.23 euros but check with borders to verify that.

* Total time to delivery = Sourcing, Picking, Packing (see Availability above) + Shipping Time
** Airmailed to local postal system of destination country and from there, distributed as priority mail. International tracking information is not available online.

Customs Charges (International Shipments)

We are required by law to note that the contents of international packages contain books, music, or video and to state the full value of the shipment, even if the package contains a gift.

Customs charges will be levied when the package reaches your country. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient of the order and will vary by country. Borders.com is not responsible for these charges and cannot provide estimates as to what these charges may be. You may wish to contact your local customs office for further information.

Borders.com and its shipping partners are not able to influence local delivery practices. The arrival times shown for International shipping indicate the amount of time it will take for your order to reach your recipient's local postal office. The time it takes to get your order from the local post office to your recipient's address can vary from country to country. Delivery may be delayed by customs/import duties and local postal requirements.

For customs:

The Aluratek Libra Pro starts at 7.05 euros and in order to establish customs costs you will need to know the weight and dimensions of the item: the weight is .5 lbs or .23 kilograms and the dimensions are 10.8 centermeters by 1.52 by .95 centermeters.

You should establish how much it will cost you to order the Libra Pro from Borders by. 7.05 euros + shipping costs + customs costs. The result will tell you if it pays to order a cheap ereader or buy the local readers.

Wow, thanks so much!
Ive sceduled a quick trip to the mainland this week in order to scout for my ereader.
I'm between the bebook one, cybook gen 3, and the kindle wifi (via a friend in London because it costs double the price with customs and shipping to buy it straight from the US). These are the ones available in Greece up to 300euros.
My files are mostly pdf ,html, doc and lit.
What im most interested in is a good screen with less glare.
I basically want it for reading. Im moving next month and im only taking what can fit in my little Suzuki, and it will be really dificult for me to make the choise of what to get and to leave, my books being at the top of the list (since im taking my cat and dog) :-)
