I can't be the first one who thought of a remote control. Instead of clicking you can set your reader straight and simply click with a remote control.

That would be convenient, wouldn't it?

Albeit, if you don't have a weight issue with your reader, you may not want a remote control, but the dx in my case (literally) can be tediously heavy. it would be nice to set it up and click away.

I imagine it wouldn't sell terribly well.

Remote controls by their very definition are designed to operate an appliance that's more than an arm's length away. The weight argument has some merit, but many of the eReaders I've encountered are closer to 7 oz. than the 19 oz. of the Kindle DX; often lighter than the paperback book they've replaced.

For "normal reading" I wouldn't need it but I can imagine it very useful for "reading while eating".

Interesting idea for heavy tablets. I have an app for my iPod touch that turns it into a remote control for my table top internet radio. Apps also exist to turn it into a remote for various video devices. Don't see why an app can't be made to turn a touch into a remote for an iPad.

Isn't there a setting to have the pages turn automatically on the Kindle 1st generation?

I seem to recall trying it, but it drove me nuts.

Voice control would be better than a remote. Oh I would love that for reading while eating. I have chosen meals based on the ability to turn pages, i.e. how messy they are or if I needed two hands.

However, in the case of the iPad being too heavy, you either are holding it in your hands anyway, which makes the entire idea useless, or you have it on a stand and are still within reach. If it is on the stand, the weight issue is made moot, and you can just tap the screen.

If it was wired, powered by the reader itself, and disconnectable (maybe plug in to the USB port), I would adore one! (I also like to read while eating.

I cant justify a need. I have an easel cover for my nook, and with the infrared touch, i can turn pages while i'm cooking or eating or whatever without having to use my fingers. (the eraser end of a pencil is perfect for the cooking example)

It works with any Kindle, you turn on TTS and turn the volume all the way down. Never tried it as the idea didn't appeal to me.

I have a need for this.
When I'm on the treadmill, I tend to walk in the center of the machine where I'm comfortable (moving forward can result in knuckles being cracked on the support arms). But this is more than an arm's length away from the reading shelf! And since I have to have the font really big for easy reading... I find myself constantly moving forward and back to push the next page button (big font, more frequent page turns). With a clicker in one hand, I could stay in my comfort zone and read and walk... read and walk.

Rock a baby with the eReader on my lap.

Granted it's probably not much of a market, but hands-free reading could come in handy in many weird little scenarios. And if you read as much as I do... you're bound to come across a few of them from time-to-time and say; "Hey?! Wouldn't it be nice if..."

I would get one if it cost less than $15 and didn't have to be pointed at the Kindle.
