Two questions, more or less
I have Calibre installed on multiple machines all accessing the same library thru my dropbox account.
Question 1: I've noticed on at least one machine that when I X out Calibre just minimizes to the icon tray rather than closing which can cause conflicts if I open it on another machine. Is there some place in Preferences where I can change this behaviour? I took a quick look but frankly most of the Preferences options kind of intimidate me as I'm paranoid about accidentally screwing something up. Question 2: Is there an easy way to re-import everything that's already in the library/database without ending up with hundreds of duplicates or losing all my custom metadata? Due, I'm sure, to unintentionally opening Calibre on multiple computers and ending up with conflicting metadata files there are books I *know* I imported into Calibre but they aren't showing up, yet if I go into the actual library files they're there. I'm sure there are some books that I don't remember importing that aren't showing up either. My thought was to copy the entire contents of the library directory to a new directory, then clear out the original library directory and start over as if it was a new install using the Add books from directories, including sub-directories (Multiple books per directory, assumes every ebook file is a different book) option. But then I got concerned about losing all of the custom metada I've entered such as custom columns, covers I added via Calibre and comments. Thanks for the help. Beth PS After doing a quick search thru already posted threads would either the Start Backing Up Metadata of All Books or the Check Library functions under Library Maintenance find my 'missing' books? And what exactly does Check Library do? I looked at the FAQ and User Manual, even tried a search and couldn't find an answer. Thanks |

If there is a METADATA.OPF in every <booktitle> folder. you could perform Library Maintenance: Restore Database |

Thanks. I knew it had to be in there, just couldn't figure out where.
Thanks. It didn't work at first, kicked back the Library name longer than 75 characters error. I moved it to the C: drive and called it CLT (CalibreLibraryTemp). Tried again and everything worked great. It found 46 books that had gone missing. Thanks for the help! |
