A look at the features of each and an overall comparison. What do you think?

To be honest, I think that the article is horribly written.
1. It's comparing two unlike products. Sure, the nook color can be used to read books, just like the Kindle, but so can a computer! The author should be comparing the Nook Simple to the Kindle. IMO, the two devices have their separate uses. 2. It has incorrect information; it is possible to lend out Kindle books. 3. Important advantages and disadvantages are left out. To name a few, library book lending (Kindle support is announced, but not yet available) and browser (LCD screen has a much better experience). You could say that browser is included in "games and other features" but that's really downsizing it. The Kindle also has games and other features. If you're looking for more criticism, let me know. It sounds as though he/she took the 'features' page of both the Nook Color and the Kindle, and just jammed them together, hoping to make a worthy article. |

I think the writer picked the "winner" first then wrote the article accordingly. Not a very good comparison.

Well - I have to agree you are comparing apples to oranges. But if you are going to do that then I'd suggest you emphasize the differences better. The advantages of eInk .. easy on the eyes etc. Then the advantages of the nook color screen - reading magazines, the apps like Angry birds etc., the ability to play movies. You might also want to talk about the differences between the single purpose eInk device and a multi-function tablet. Make the reader really understand why the Nook Color is costlier.
I'd also suggest you bring into play an explanation of 3G and wireless connectivity and also - how can you mention that the nook can be read for free in Barnes and Noble stores but neglect to mention that the Kindle is an International device? This is the Internet, not just America. |

Yep, that was a terrible review apparently written by someone who isn't that familiar with both products or eBook reading in general. I've got both products, though the nookcolor is for sale, but I would not begin to compare the two as they serve different purposes. I personally find the "this reader is better than that reader" articles to be a waste of time. It only applies for the author of the article. Everyone has different needs and wants and they don't need a sophomoric level review from anyone, especially someone who has brand love.

Even though the Kindle 3 is 9 months old, I agree it would be the better comparison would be with that and the new Nook.

yeah, 9 months ago it might have been a timely comparison, but it still would have been comparing a dediicated ebook reader with a crippled (or if you prefer, locked) tablet computer.
