Hi-new from NJ and eBooks
I'm a real newbie to eBooks and just got my Kindle the other day. Hoping to search around a learn some things. I thought I was tech savvy til people started telling me things I had to load to get eBooks, etc. Please don't jump on me about this, but what is Demonoid and what are Torrents? I just get my books from Amazon and have the wi-fi and people keep telling me to check out Demonoid.

Well Torrent is acutual short for the full name which is bit-Torreent which is a method of sharing files between computers. Its not an electronic store at all but if you participate in a torrent site this would be one way to obtain books that another partipant gives you.
Kindles are great readers except that they do not support library books. They are great if you like to get away from the mainstream books that everyone and their brother and sister reads, becuase lets face it Amazon has everything. There great if you want to find a specific passage in your library of books, as they have a search function. They also have customization features so that you can tailor the Kindle to your liking as well as puting your name in the Kindle. However Kindles are not the best for all people. If you read foreign languege books, non-english, the Kindle is not the best for you, the bookeen is. The Kindle does not have the best user interface on the market, that award goes to the Nook Simple Touch. It can't read abosultely anything from anywhere, the best there is the Pocket Book Lite. Its not the absolute simplest reader available, thats the Kobo. If you already have a smart phone you can get cheaper then the Kindle, you can actually get the readers for $0. |

Thanks for the advice. I have a Blackberry Bold and couldn't possibly read on that. I wanted the Kindle for outside reading. I don't read foreign language books and doubt I will be using the Kindle for (although I could) checking email or pictures, I have my smartphone for that and didn't want to spend an extra $75 on the Nook because of that. I am just so confused as to everything I am NOW reading. My library swears by the end of the year, it will support Kindle, so we shall see. Again, thanks for the response.
